I am an avid gardener and at every turn in my garden there is a picture to be painted. I needed venue to express my love of gardening. Watercolour painting became a natural way to relive my passion for gardening. Painting and gardening are creative endeavors to continue my expressive growth. Floral and landscape painting became as much a part of my life as gardening. A friend, my instructor encouraged me to use acrylics as my medium and  I haven't looked back .The vibrant colours of acrylic are a medium to be used to paint the beautiful landscapes of Muskoka.  http://www.joansdream.blogspot.com

I enjoy the challenge of creating and I love to see the finished product  which is often very different than what I thought it would be!  "I started out as an oil painter, moved to watercolour and with much suffering learned to have fun and to create a painting I could be proud of.  I have recently transitioned to acrylics.  I love the new found freedom, and look forward to growing and expanding my skills with this wonderful medium".

Acrylic and Watercolour Artist, Poet
My earliest introduction to art came as a child.  I had a wonderful, supportive teacher who saw something in me and encouraged my creativity.  Later as a cosmetician, my artistic experience was of a more human kind.  It was then I discovered, "the more expensive the paint, the better the result!"  Still true today, but all humour aside being creative has always been part of my life through both art and poetry.  A decade away from Canada, then moving to Muskoka and meeting these ladies who share my passion - the painting hasn't stopped since!

My life as an artist in Muskoka is an exciting time for me.  My passion is to capture Canada's glorious landscapes in mixed media with bold colour and abstract form.  I have found my second calling as a painter and workshop facilitator.  Through workshops I have found comaraderie with this wonderful group of artists who make painting fun and exciting.  We support and challenge each other regularly with new ideas and find ourselves aspiring to achieving new heights on our canvases.  To learn more about me and to view my paintings, please go to http://www.yourbestimages.com.

I have lived in Muskoka for 27 years, raised two children and enjoy spending time with my husband Paul and our golden doodle Josie. Until recently, l have worked in watercolours but changed to acrylics and enjoy the wonderful textures and colours.  Living in Muskoka has given me the opportunity to experience the unique landscape that surrounds us.  Travelling to the east and west coast over the years has only heightened our love of this great country.  Please enjoy looking at my gallary paintings.     http://www.brendazimmart.blogspot.com
